🪶 Paste Float
The Paste Float is a relatively recent development in float design, created in response to the rise of commercial carp fisheries. As paste fishing became more popular, anglers needed a float specifically designed to handle the unique weight and behaviour of paste bait on the hook — and so, the Paste Float was born.
🧲 Why Paste Bait Works
Paste bait is made from ground or fine pellets, blended into a soft, doughy mixture that can be moulded directly onto the hook. When fish such as carp, bream, or tench are feeding on the bottom, they filter the groundbait — sucking and blowing fine particles, which can be seen as streams of bubbles rising to the surface.
Paste bait takes advantage of this behaviour. It can catch fish when other baits fail, making it a go-to method on pressured commercial waters.

Standard floats often sink under the weight of heavy paste. The Paste Float solves this by using a long bristle antenna, which:

Allow for the weight of the paste when shotting the float.

Some anglers prefer to use no shot at all, letting the paste weight settle the float naturally in the swim.

This creates a more natural presentation and reduces line bites, especially in calm conditions.
Many modern commercial floats also feature a reinforced line channel within the body. This prevents the line from cutting into the float when playing hard-fighting carp — greatly improving the float’s lifespan and reliability.
