PELLET WAGGLER
πͺΆ Pellet Waggler
Although technically a waggler float, the Pellet Waggler has become a staple on commercial fisheries, especially during the warmer months when carp are feeding confidently up in the water.
Itβs a small, dumpy float designed to present baits just under the surface β typically in the top 60 cm of water. If youβre fishing deeper than this, a standard waggler is usually more effective.
π― When and How to Use It
The pellet waggler is most effective when carp are feeding shallow. The technique involves loose-feeding hard pellets every minute to build a competitive feeding zone, then casting your rig into the same area to intercept the fish as they take bait mid-water.
-
Ideal baits include hard sinking pellets (4β8 mm), fed at 10β12 metres
-
The hookbait is usually positioned around 6β8 metres out
-
Casting and retrieving repeatedly keeps the bait active and visible, often resulting in aggressive takes
While it was originally designed for hard trout pellets, the pellet waggler can also be used with meat, boilies, and other small particle baits.
πͺ Rigging Tips
-
Most anglers use a hair rig with a small rubber band attached to the hair to secure the pellet or meat cube.
-
Consistent βlittle and oftenβ feeding in the same area is key to drawing the fish in and keeping them competing.
-
Because bites are often fast and aggressive, a short hooklength and strong mainline are recommended.
β In summary:
-
Compact waggler designed for shallow commercial fishing
-
Ideal for carp, F1s, and aggressive surface feeders
-
Works best with hard pellets (4β8 mm) and loose feeding every minute
-
Simple, effective, and devastating when the fish are shallow
-
Perfect for warm-weather bagging sessions
